Our History

Celebrating 131 Years

The year 1889 marked the beginnings of the Bethel Building & Loan Company. Started in a one room office rented for $0.50 a month and with assets totaling $49.75, the Bethel Building & Loan was formed as a mutual savings institution to support the people of the community by raising money to be loaned among its members and depositors for the use of repairing or purchasing houses and buying lots of land.

New Name-Same Commitment to Community

In 2011, in order to reflect the full scope of financial services offered and its commitment to the community, the Bethel Building & Loan changed its name to Community Savings Bank. Even though a lot has changed since 1889, our commitment to community banking has remained strong and consistent for 134 years.

Our support for the community has extended beyond banking. Our involvement in the community includes support of various student athletic programs, financial education in the schools, high school coaching, civic organizations, Bethel Historical Society, Bethel Lions Organization, community concert events, community improvement projects, organizing Bethel Down Home Christmas, and supporting the Clermont County Fair.

A new Page in our History

In September 2014, The Home Building and Loan Company in Greenfield, Ohio merged with and into Community Savings Bank. We are excited to bring the CSB brand experience to the Greenfield community.
